Sweet Victory INDIANAPOLIS – It’s a good time to be a Colts fan. And a chimpanzee or sea turtle. Endangered Species Chocolate (ESC) proudly announces that more than $3,000 was raised for Chimp Haven and The Ocean Conservancy through the chocolate bar sporting Indianapolis hometown pride. ESC offered a free white chocolate with blueberries chocolate bar to members of the community and accepted donations for the company’s 10% give back partners for additional bars. The support for Indianapolis and the ESC mission was incredible. A reliable source shared news with the marketing department at ESC that the blue and white chocolate bars found their way into the hands of Don Shula, Andy Rooney, several players and coaches, and many other high profile people. "I’ve never seen anything like this in Indy. I hope this community spirit sticks around for a long, long time,” says Wayne Zink, CEO of Endangered Species Chocolate. “Naturally, our 10% give back partners, Chimp Haven and The Ocean Conservancy, were very pleased to hear of the additional support. This was a fun way for us to make a difference in our local community and for our nonprofit partners.” Chimp Haven provides lifetime care for chimpanzees no longer used for medical research, as pets or entertainers. The 200-acre Shreveport, LA, sanctuary will be home to more than 200 of the approximately 1,300 chimpanzees who have been used in federally supported research and who are housed in research facilities. Funds received from ESC will be used for veterinary care and medicine, the food preparation and enrichment kitchen, and habitat enhancements. The Ocean Conservancy, located in Washington, DC, promotes healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems and opposes practices that threaten ocean life and human life. Through research, education, and science-based advocacy, The Ocean Conservancy informs, inspires, and empowers people to speak and act on behalf of the oceans. The grant will be used to fund three projects: SEE Turtles: Sea turtle Ecotourism Expeditions, The International Coastal Cleanup and the Florida Wildlife Program.
