That title has a double meaning for me. The literal translation of Pièce de résistance is “piece of resistance”, referring to the best part of something. So, my role at Endangered Species Chocolate – blogging, advertising, media, eating chocolate – is quite irresistable. I love what I do, where I do it, who I work with and, of course, the uber-irresistable milk chocolate that fuels me throughout the day. My job is the pièce de résistance of all jobs. Until a few weeks ago when I had to do something that I’ve been resisting for months! Create a Facebook page.
I have a lot of reasons for not wanting to engage in said social network. #1 being I’m on the computer all day, why would I choose to be on the computer during my personal time too?!?! But I took one for the team and created a profile just so Endangered Species Chocolate could have a page. 185 friends, 1 sea garden creature and 5 event requests later, we now have an Endangered Species Chocolate page and an It’s Time for HOPE group.
So, if you love Endangered Species Chocolate, please become a fan/member. If for no other reason, then to turn my biggest resistance into the pièce de résistance of my day. Piece out.

So, if you haven’t heard yet, Endangered Species Chocolate is going to outer space. That’s right, an astronaut on the upcoming shuttle Discovery Flight STS-119 to the International Space Station specifically requested our Supreme Dark Chocolate chimpanzee bar. Eight dark chocolate bars will make the trip along with the final set of power-generating solar arrays and the station’s newest crew member.
As if that isn’t fun enough, I’ve been really excited because I get to go to Houston for the homecoming celebration for the crew. My trip was planned for the end of February, until yesterday when we learned that the launch date has been pushed back to no earlier than February 19. NASA needs to further analyze some fuel flow valves. We should know the new launch date by February 12 (the original launch date). I hope that I’ll be able to reschedule my trip so I can meet the brave and brilliant individuals who travel to space. I’d also like to talk to someone that has been weightless when eating chocolate. ha.

I’m a blogging machine! Two posts in two days counts as a blogging machine, right? There’s just so much to tell! Like the $1 off coupon in the Walgreen’s EasySaver Catalog. Go to Walgreen’s between now and February 28, 2009, pick up an EasySaver Catalog, and look for the coupon on the inside cover page.
Walgreen’s carries our smooth milk chocolate (a MUST try, if you’re not vegan), dark chocolate with deep forest mint and dark chocolate with cranberries and almonds.
I’d also like to give a shout out to one of my faithful readers. I just learned that my friend Fred reads every post! Fred, I think your wife would like an Endangered Species Chocolate milk chocolate bar from Walgreen’s for Valentine’s Day.

Some emails are just too good not to share. This one came a few weeks ago (yes, I’m a slacker) from a sixth grader in Ohio.
My name is Daisy. I have to do quarterly science experiments for my science class. I did one about how the amount of cocoa solids and sugar affect how much people like chocolate.
It turned out that your Endangered Species Smooth Milk Chocolate was the most popular! I will recommend this chocolate to any chocolate lover I know. Also, I am really glad that your chocolate supports endangered species.
I have attached the science packet I had to fill in.
Although your Extreme Dark was the least popular chocolate amongst our test group, my sister Olivia ranked it number 1 out of 6 chocolates!
Daisy’s science packet was very comprehensive and she even sent us a photo of herself with our chocolate. The chocolates she used in her experiment were:
-
Hershey’s Milk Chocolate (at least 10% cocoa solids, 24 grams sugar per bar)
-
Endangered Species Smooth Milk Chocolate (52% cocoa solids, 19 grams sugar)
-
Hershey’s Cacao Reserve (65% cocoa solids, 13 grams sugar)
-
Ghirardelli Twilight Delight (72% cocoa solids, 10 grams sugar per bar)
-
Lindt Extra Dark (85% cocoa solids, 5 grams sugar per bar)
-
Endangered Species Extreme Dark Chocolate (88% cocoa solids, 5 grams sugar per bar)
