CHOCOLATE FROSTING

Brownies. We have all had that intense craving that only a dense square of rich, chocolately goodness can satisfy. In their simplest form, brownies are the perfect fit for a last minute pitch in, surprise house guests, or just a special lunch box treat for kids big and small. The only thing that can make a decadent brownie better is to top it off with a smooth, creamy chocolate frosting. However, I get a bit irritated with frostings that are so sweet they overpower the depth of flavor a brownie should have. That is why I whipped up this equally rich, flavorful frosting to spread on top of a batch of brownies for the office. Homemade, or out of the box, any brownie will go from tasty to crave-able when they are topped off with this easy frosting. If you’re hosting a crowd, top each serving off with a type of nut or berry, and don’t be surprised when they try to “kiss the cook”!
Makes 3 Cups
  • ½ cup Endangered Species Chocolate Cocoa Spread (Hazelnut or Almond work great too!)
  • 1 stick unsalted butter or vegan substitute
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
  • Opt: ¼ cup whole milk or substitute
In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter and cocoa spread until blended. Begin adding powdered sugar in ¼ cup increments, until the frosting begins to hold peaks pulling away from the paddle (a full 3 cups may not be used). If the frosting looks dry, add roughly ¼ cup of milk.

Great on brownies, cakes, or whatever your taste buds desire!
