Ocean Conservancy staff work closely with coastal homeowners, fishing groups, and government officials to find collaborative solutions for reducing harm to sea turtles and manatees.
For centuries people have exploited the oceans with little thought to the future. As a result oceans are facing many problems, including artificial reefs made from human trash, bycatch, entanglement and overfishing in the commercial fishing industry, and cruise ship, runoff and air pollution. Oceans are a valuable resource on this planet that we mustn’t neglect any longer. The Ocean Conservancy has worked for more than three decades toward its of goal of wild, healthy oceans. Increasing public awareness of ocean issues is one of the keys to bringing about significant changes to the way oceans are managed.
