Auntie Botlhe (Lioness)
Auntie Botlhe is a young lioness who manages to care for the only surviving members of her pride, two small cubs. Farmers in Kasane (northern Botswana) feared that a local pride of lions would prey on their livestock. The farmers and their families rely on the livestock for their survival, so they took a drastic step: they spread poison on the carcass of a wild buffalo the pride had killed. Tragically, three adult females and one adult male died, leaving behind three orphaned cubs and a sub-adult female.
